19 July 2008  Black & Blue Relay

Jane and Jana passing the baton

Here's a measure of true dedication to cycling!  Jana Glover and Jane West participated (as Team "Lowcountry Ladies") in the Black & Blue Relay - a DOUBLE CENTURY starting at Grayson Highlands State Park in VA and ending at city hall in Asheville, NC.   Jane rode the first 50 miles, Jana the second 50, then they alternated 25 miles each for the last 100 miles.  Our Lowcountry Ladies finished first in their class and sixth overall with a time of 11 hours 29 minutes having climed a total of over 25,000 feet!  These pictures were all taken by Mike Davis and are hosted on the Bicycle Inn web site.   Take a look at the Black & Blue Relay website also.

The 2008 Ride of Silence enjoyed spectacular spring weather and was attended by 47 riders (plus one that hadn't been born yet!).  The after ride social at Peter Wilborn's house was also well attended (although not by our host).
